(300 different magazines in 15 countries) with magazines such as Kerrang! And
Heat. Bauer is built upon influential media brands. Bauer Media is also a sister
company of H Bauer Publishing, who are the publishers of the UK's biggest TV
listings, such as Take a Break. Bauer’s history dates back to 1953 when the Angling
Times was first published and Bauer still publishes them today. In 1990 Bauer launched
its radio station (with the acquisition of London dance station) Kiss FM which
is now called Kiss 100.
ICP media
ICP publish 60 iconic brands of magazines such as NME and
woman and home. The magazines that they publish are read by two thirds of women
and 40% of men in the UK. The portfolio of websites reaches over 25 million
global users every month. ICP media split their audience into three categories which are IPC Connect (This is ICP’s mass market women’s division), IPC Inspire
(This is ICP’s men’s division which includes magazines such as NME) and IPC
Southbank (This is ICP’s upmarket women’s division including Marie Claire).
Conde Nast
Conde nast are responsible for publishing high end magazines
including Vogue and Tatler. The magazines that are published are mostly aimed
at women and are aimed at the middle class (this can be reflected in the price
of the magazine). Although Conde Nast do not publish as many magazines as ICP
and Bauer they are very precise in what they publish and specific about who
they want their target audience to be across the board.
