colours

colour
i have chosen the colours on my mood board that i feel may represnt my target audience. the colours that i would like to use in the magaine are red, black and white as i feel that this wouold appeal to my target audience and the colours themselves would stand out against each other so text is clearer to see. i think that my target audience will go for the darker colours as these colours are normally used in the type of magazine that i will be making.

Font

Font
I have chosen many different styles of font for my mood board so i am able to make a comparison between the fonts.
The font that i have chosen to use in my magazine is the font in the bottom left of the image above. i have chosen this particular font as i feel it suits the genre of the magazine and i feel that this font would stand out enough within the magazine.

advertisement

for my advertisement mood board i have selected certain images that would appeal to my target audience. On my mood board i have images and logos of clothing brands that sell alternative clothes (Grindstore, hell bunny and Necessary evil) this would attract my target audience and be a good addition to my magazine as it sells the sort of clothes that my atrget audience would wear.
On my mood bard there are images of television and music shows (LA ink, Kerrang! and Scuzz). these shows are good to advertise in my magazine as these are some of the shows that my target audience would watch/ listen to.
I have Incorporated some of the products that the target audience would wear/own. I think that this would be good advertisement to have in the magazine as it is reltable to the target audience and it would also promote the brands that are popular within this type of audience.

target audience

Target audience

I choose the images that consit of band names as it is bands that will be similar to the ones that are in the magazine i hope to make. the bands themselves appeal to my target audience so in order to attract the audience i want to my magainze i will need to use similar bands.
I used a picture of the audience and the ticket due to my target audience enjoying gigs and are very into the music that they listern to.
In my mood board i have incopirated some of the fashion choices that the target audience may chose to wear. This may not apply to everyone in this paticular 'scene'. The image of the students represents education. the reason i have place this image onto my mood board is due to the age of the target audience i hope will attract my target audience. I have included technology and social media into my mood board as the target age i will want my product to appeal to uses alot of social media.

full magazine analysis

Kerrang analysis

Kerrang was first published in 1981 and has been a weekly magazine for over thirty years. The magazine is aimed at people who enjoy rock music. Kerrang estimates they have a readership of 345,000 and a circulation of over 38,000 a week. The average age of a Kerrang reader is 25.

The readers of Kerrang are big music lovers buying an average of 6 albums a month and are 8 times more likely to spend over £200 a year on albums. Readers of Kerrang tend to be very into music and spending hours a day either listening to music or doing an activity that has a musical influence.

Advertisements in the Kerrang magazine include black XS, orange and national express. The advertisements in the magazine are used due to the consumer research that the magazine company has acquired. The price of the magazine also reflects the financial status that the consumer may have. Therefore products being advertised within Kerrang have to be appropriate to the consumer and the likely amount of money they have.

There is also online version of the magazine; a radio station and Kerrang promote gigs such as download and the Kerrang! tour. This information also comes from the consumer research that has been done before the magazine was published.

Questionnaire analyisis

Questionnaire analysis

For my magazine cover and condense I circulated a questionnaire enquiring about what would interest them when purchasing a magazine. 60% of the people who participated in the questionnaire were female and 40% were male. I found that the college magazine is not reaching or attracting the target audience as 95% of people who answered the questionnaire had not read the college magazine.

55% of the people asked would want the issue to be published monthly and 55% are not willing to pay for the magazine. However 90% of the people asked would pay for the college magazine would pay if the magazine had freebies and discounts.

When the students were asked about the colours of the magazine there were four main colours chosen.  The top four colours chosen where blue, red, white and yellow. Out of the categories to choose from the top five features chosen were technology, fashion, music, jobs and food.  When asked what image they would like on the front cover 45% of the students wanted students/people as the main image on the cover. When asked about an online version of the magazine 65% of students would like an online copy of the magazine.

Finally when the students were asked whether they would contribute to the magazine 20% stated that they would contribute.
