The magazine ‘college lifestyle’ has many different elements
to the cover page. My first example of this is the masthead. The masthead
reinforces what the rest of the magazine is about. My second example is the
image itself. The image itself consists of a young man carrying books. Looking
at the books in his hand that are entitled ‘law, business and society’ shows
that this young man has some level of intelligence. If you observe the cross
necklace that the young man is wearing it shows religion, portraying that he is
a good honest person with morals. Another observation about the image is the
subject is smiling. This intern shows that the image is a positive image.
My third example of the elements of the cover is the fount
and subheadings that are situated on the page. The colours used on the page are
bold and contrasting making it eye catching to the target audience. The cover
lines are based on stereotypically what college students enjoy doing or are
interested in, for example ‘why we love blackberry’ refers to the technology
that we enjoy today. Another example of this is ‘Thank god it’s Friday’ which
refers to the activities such as partying which are associated with youth
culture. Looking at all the elements that I have stated, they are put together
to show a positive view on college life.
